PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police are investigating the death of a 73-year-old man who was struck by a truck as he retrieved belongings that had fallen on the road.
The Oregonian reports James Gotcher died at the scene Saturday after being hit near milepost 42 of U.S. Route 30, near his hometown of Rainier, Oregon.
Police say Gotcher’s belongings had fallen from a pickup truck he was riding in while heading east on the highway.
