Wales star North takes break from rugby after concussions
NORTHAMPTON, England (AP) — Wales winger George North will spend a month away from rugby on medical advice after suffering a third concussion in four months.
North’s English club, Northampton, says the player saw a neurologist on Wednesday and was advised to take a break from the game before being re-assessed at the end of April.
Northampton says “it is important that George’s welfare comes first and that he is treated patiently and calmly, only returning to action when all of the medical team are happy.”
North will not participate in on-field training but will continue to work with Northampton’s performance department and be monitored by the club’s medical team.
North was knocked unconscious in a club game on Friday, having been concussed playing for Wales in the November tests and in the Six Nations.
