Summit County Historical Society to host Perkins Stone Mansion holiday tours, events

AKRON, Ohio – Summit County Historical Society will host holiday-themed tours and events at Perkins Stone Mansion through Dec. 29.

Holiday tours at the mansion, which was built in 1837 for the family of Colonel Simon and Grace Perkins, are scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Each room features its own holiday theme and colors. New trees donated by volunteers Jack and Mary Schifano also will be on display throughout the house. Holiday tour admission is $10.

The historical society will host a free community open house from 1 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 9.

An evening tour that includes hors d’oeuvres is scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 19. Admission is $20.

The historical society will host the Reliving Christmas through Music sing-along program at the Carriage House on the Perkins Stone Mansion property at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 20. The program is free for society members and $10 for non-members. Coffee, hot cocoa and cookies will be served.

The historical society’s Winter Solstice paranormal program is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 21. Tickets are $10 and include a walk through the house with only holiday lights lit and stories of paranormal experiences. Volunteers will offer demonstrations using divining rods and pendulums and angel reader and psychic Laura Lyn will offer 15-minute readings for $30. Reservations are required for readings and can be made by calling the historical society at 330-535-1120.
