August 22, 2018

Timmy Miller, 8, of Latrobe participates in a magic trick during the Unity Township Heritage Festival Saturday, September 12, 2015.

Unity Township is adding games for kids to activities at this year’s township Heritage Day Festival, set for noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 8 on township property surrounding the municipal building, at 154 Beatty County Road.

“Bring the kids,” supervisors Chairman John Mylant encouraged residents. “It’s a nice, family event. That’s what it’s all about.”

Other festival features that will appeal to children include inflatable rides, a YMCA obstacle course, Lowe’s Kids Clinic and face painting. Performers include clowns Glitter Dot and Dapper, at 2 p.m., and illusionist Dan Kuniak, at 3 p.m.

Musical entertainment will be provided by polka specialists PA Express, from noon to 3 p.m., and Last Minute Band, from 4 to 7 p.m.

A display of township firefighting equipment, hay rides and food and craft vendors will be featured throughout the festival. Bingo, sponsored by the Latrobe Lions Club, is set for 1 to 4 p.m. A basket raffle will conclude with a 6:30 p.m. drawing.
