CHICAGO (AP) _ Chicago White Sox right fielder Magglio Ordonez was a late scratch from the lineup Saturday night with a sore toe on his left foot.
Jeff Liefer, initially scheduled to play left field, moved to right and Carlos Lee took his usual spot in left. Manager Jerry Manuel had planned to give Lee the night off.
Ordonez is hitting .361 since the All-Star break, second-best in the American League, with 14 homers and 34 RBIs. He snapped a career-high 17-game hitting streak Friday night, going 0-for-4.
With 29 homers and 101 RBIs, Ordonez needs only one more homer for his fourth straight 30-100 season. Only Frank Thomas has a better streak in White Sox history, reaching 30 homers and 100 RBIs in five straight years (1993-97).
