Seniors bounce back with sweep at North Platte

NATE TENOPIR The Columbus TelegramMay 27, 2019

Three quality starts and a big weekend from Brent Beard weren’t quite enough for the Columbus Cornerstone Insurance Seniors to end its first weekend with a winning record.

Columbus started the new year with a tough 0-2 loss at Kearney before bouncing back with a split the following day in North Platte.

Cole Wilcox on Friday then Connor Dush and Alex Ritzdorf each gave Cornerstone at least five innings with two earned runs or fewer while also all striking out at least five and not walking more than one.

Beard was 3 for 10 in the three games with three runs scored, three RBIs, a double and two stolen bases.
