Connex Credit union opens first Fairfield County branch

August 29, 2018

One of the state’s largest credit unions has added another branch to its list.

Connex Credit Union opened its newest full-service location in Monroe on Friday at 155 Main St. The new location is Connex’s eighth overall and first in Fairfield County.

It joined branches in North Haven, Hamden, Meriden, Orange, Branford, New Haven and Milford.

“Today marks a milestone in the history of Connex Credit Union,” said president and CEO Frank Mancini in an email to Hearst Connecticut Media. “In essence, it is the perfect example of an organization responding to the needs of its customers to better serve them.”

The addition of Monroe’s location is part of ongoing growth strategy to add value and to existing members while attracting new ones, according to a press release.

The new location offers on-site parking, walk-in and drive-up ATM, coin cashing machines that support the ConnexCares “Coins for Change” community program, and more.

This is also the latest branch to embrace Connex’s Interactive Teller Machines, or ITMs, which allow members to perform most teller transactions from the lobby.

“Through careful research and listening to our members, we found that opening our new branch in Monroe, our eighth and first in Fairfield County, would provide more convenience to our existing members and attract new members,” Mancini said. “We look forward to serving the Monroe community and meeting their financial needs well into the future.”

The North Haven-based credit union serves more than 50,000 people in the New Haven area with an array of financial services and products.

It was chartered in 1940 to serve Southern New England Telephone employees and their families. Since then, Connex has extended its reach to a community field of membership that includes residents in Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and Hartford counties.

Live teller availability will run from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
