Old Courthouse Museum open Sunday
The general public is invited to visit the Old Courthouse Museum at 103 W. Cherry St. in Watseka from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
The museum features hundreds of displays and artifacts depicting the history of the many townships and villages making up Iroquois County. A lot of the rooms are dedicated to certain events, history or businesses, such as the Wayne Hiles Military Room, the small music room, the old-time kitchen, a sitting room, the courtroom and the one-room school.
The museum is a great place to learn the history of Iroquois County and offers a lot in educating and intriguing visitors. General hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. To get more information or arrange a tour, call the museum office at 815-432-2215.
The museum is supported by the Iroquois County Historical Society, a nonprofit organization which focuses its efforts in maintaining, repairing and providing upkeep to the museum.
