PROVO, Utah (AP) _ Johnny Miller scored 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, as Louisiana Tech nipped Stephen F. Austin 68-58 in Friday night's first round of the Cougar Classic.

Miller led four Bulldogs scorers who finished scoring in double figures. LeNard Jones and Cornelius Frazier each had 13 points, while Lonnie Cooper added 11.

Louisiana Tech (2-1) plays the winner of the Cal State-Northridge matchup with tourney host Brigham Young on Saturday.

The loss ruined an outstanding performance by Vasco Tonch, who led all scorers with 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Lumberjacks (3-2).

Eric Leftwich added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Stephen F. Austin.

The Bulldogs, down 10-5 early, pulled ahead to stay on runs of 11-2 and 13-4 to stake a 35-26 halftime lead.

Louisiana Tech marked its biggest lead, 55-42, on Frazier's jumpshot with 9:45 to play.

The Lumberjacks could get no closer than six points after that, pulling to a 61-55 deficit on Leftwich's 3-pointer with 1:48 to play.

The Bulldogs scored seven of the game's final nine points, all at the free throw line, to rebuild their double-digit margin.
