NEW YORK (AP) _ Cincinnati Reds shortstop Barry Larkin left Friday night’s game against the New York Mets after making a nice play to finish the fourth inning.
It was not immediately known what caused the early exit.
Larkin ended the fourth by running down Timo Perez’s blooper to shallow center field and doubling Pedro Astacio off second.
Larkin was due to lead off the fifth, but was replaced by pinch-hitter Juan Castro, who remained in the game at shortstop.
