Midday Bond Prices Lower
NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were lower at midday Friday.
The price of the Treasury’s 10-year note was down 5/32 point, or $1.563 per $1,000 in face value, around midday Friday, while its yield rose to 4.92 percent from 4.90 percent late Thursday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.
The 30-year bonds were down 5/32 point and yielded 5.31 percent, down from 5.30 percent late Thursday.
Yields on three-month Treasury bills rose to 4.67 percent as the discount rose 0.01 percentage point to 4.56 percent. Six-month yields rose to 4.59 percent as the discount rose 0.01 percentage point to 4.44 percent. One-year yields rose to 4.43 percent as the discount rose 0.03 percentage point to 4.24 percent.
Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
