Suburban Chicago man dies in trash compactor
PALATINE, Ill. (AP) — A suburban Chicago man died after he was crushed in a trash compactor while searching for a missing cellphone.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports (http://bit.ly/15xL1zP ) 56-year-old Roger Mirro died this week from crushing injuries after he was found in the trash room in his Palatine property.
Mirro’s wife reported him missing Tuesday evening, hours after a neighbor said Mirro borrowed a key to the trash room in the lower level of a parking garage.
The neighbor told police that Mirro said he’d lost his cellphone and thought it may have fallen down the trash chute.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office says Mirro’s death was an accident.
