Grubnic Leads Top Fuel Qualifying
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ David Grubnic led Top Fuel qualifying for the second straight event, topping the field Saturday in the Mac Tools NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway.
Grubnic powered his Kalitta Air dragster down the quarter-mile track in 4.623 seconds at a top speed of 311.74 mph.
Tim Wilkerson, Greg Anderson and Andrew Hines also topped their divisions in the $2 million event.
Wilkerson led the Funny Car field at 4.906 second and 300 mph, and Anderson drove to his 20th career No. 1 qualifying position in Pro Stock with a track-record 6.763-second run at 204.31 mph.
Hines led the Pro Stock Motorcycle field at 7.097 and 189.43, a track record for time.
