Tobago police arrest alleged cocaine courier
PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) — Police in Trinidad & Tobago have arrested an alleged drug mule as he was attempting to board a flight destined for London.
The suspect was arrested at Tobago’s international airport on drug-smuggling charges and was being held at a lockup on the island located some 30 kilometers (19 miles) northeast of Venezuela.
Agents with the organized crime bureau say they found nearly 15 pounds (7 kilograms) of cocaine in his luggage. They say the drugs were stuffed in five bottles wrapped in plastic.
The man’s name and nationality was not immediately released. He was trying to get on a flight to London’s Gatwick airport operated by U.K-based Monarch Airlines.
