Tonka Recalls Dolls
WASHINGTON (AP) _ ″Love Me Tender″ dolls are being recalled because the plastic eyes could come off and pose a threat of choking children, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Tonka Products launched the recall after receiving 76 reports from consumers about cases in which the eyes had come off the dolls. No injuries were reported in any of the cases, the company said.
More than 100,000 dolls, model numbers 8900 and 8901, have been sold nationwide since July 1987. They cost between $18 and $30.
Parents were urged to take the dolls away from young children and return them to the place of purchase or to Tonka for a refund. The address to mail back the dolls is Tonka Products, Attention Department K, 2950 Robertson Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio, 45209.
