Redskins trail Cowboys at halftime of Thanksgiving game
ARLINGTON, Texas It’s a close one in Texas as the Washington Redskins are looking for a season sweep of their hated rivals.
The Dallas Cowboys lead the Redskins at halftime, 10-7.
The Washington offense did not start off looking great with Colt McCoy running the show, in for the injured Alex Smith. But he stepped up and got Washington on the board with a 53-yard pitch-and-catch to Vernon Davis.
That touchdown tied the score 7-7 after Ezekiel Elliott scored on the opening drive and Dallas led for much of the first half.
The Cowboys had a long drive going late in the second quarter and got to the Redskins’ 4, but a sack by Preston Smith and Ryan Kerrigan pushed them away from the goal line and they had to settle for a field goal.
Adrian Peterson hurt his shoulder in the first quarter and left the game, but quickly returned. He only has gained 17 yards on seven carries. McCoy is 7-for-14 with 116 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
The game will have ramifications on the NFC East race; a Dallas win will pull them into a tie with Washington for first place, but Washington can create some cushion with a win and season sweep.
