State Police: No Foul Play In Jefferson Twp. Drowning

April 10, 2019

JEFFERSON TWP. — State police ruled foul play was not a factor in the death of a man pulled from a township pond over the weekend.

Authorities found Shawn Venticinque, 24, of Moscow, dead in a pond along Oak Lane Avenue on Sunday. An autopsy ruled his death as an accidental drowning, the Lackawanna County Coroner’s Office said Tuesday.

Troopers determined that Venticinque attended a party with two other people, who were not identified by officials. After the trio left, the vehicle ended up in a ditch, according to a report released by state police today. The group tried to free the vehicle and began to argue. Venticinque decided to walk home but never made it there, troopers said.

The pond is located near the ditch where the vehicle was stuck.
