Man ran away from local police, was tased
A 35-year-old man ran away from Watertown police and was tased after the car he was in was pulled over Thursday at the 800 block North Fourth Street.
Watertown police conducted a traffic stop and four occupants were in the vehicle. The police investigated a female for operating while intoxicated and a 37-year-old man was arrested for OWI.
A bench warrant had been issued for the 35-year-old man through the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. He resisted arrest by trying to run from police after he was advised that he was under arrest and was tased. He was conscious and breathing but experiencing some pain from the taser. The man told police that he recently had surgery.
He was taken to the hospital but refused to take a blood test.
Police also found out the man had marijuana in his possession. The Watertown Police Department is requesting charges from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for felony level drug possession and resisting arrest.
