Canyon High School coach’s pickup vandalized during away game

February 23, 2019

A Canyon High School coach’s pickup was vandalized overnight on the campus grounds while he and his team were out of town at a game.

Head Baseball Coach Reagan Moczygemba left his Ford F-150 pickup in the parking lot of the high school near the office, where the damage was discovered Friday morning.

Images posted by his wife via social media show the windows cracked, tires slashed, and lewd graffiti lining the sides of the pickup.

Reached by phone Friday evening, Moczygemba said he was with his team when he found out about the incident.

“I told ’em it doesn’t matter. A truck is just a thing,” he said. “It’s part of life. We still gotta go win a baseball game.”

Moczygemba then reflected on the positives of life including his family and the opportunity to coach baseball for a living.

His main concern was that his wife and two children, a 10-month-old and a 2-year-old, had to spend much of the day handling the incident with the Comal County Sheriff’s Office and Comal Independant School District.

In her post, Moczygemba’s wife is asking anyone in the New Braunfels area to contact authorities with information.

“It’ll work itself out,” he said. “Hopefully we’ll figure out who it was and they’ll be brought to justice.”
