Foster mother charged with murder posts bond
PONTIAC, Ill. (AP) — A central Illinois foster mother charged with murder in the death of a 4-year-old girl under her care is out of jail after posting bond.
The Bloomington Pantagraph (http://bit.ly/15Y6G73 ) reports that Heather Lamie posted the necessary $100,000 bond Friday. The amount is 10 percent of her $1 million bond. She posted it a day after a Livingston County judge reduced it from $2 million.
The 29-year-old Kankakee County woman was arrested in June for the 2011 death of Kianna Russell. The girl died at a Peoria hospital. Her death was later ruled a homicide. She had blunt force trauma and brain injuries.
Prosecutors have argued against lowering the bond. They’ve said Lamie is a flight risk because if convicted she could be sentenced to life in prison.
