Harvesting of corn getting underway in North Dakota
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Harvesting of corn is getting underway in North Dakota.
The federal Agriculture Department in its weekly crop report says 1 percent of the corn crop is in the bin, and the soybean harvest has reached 10 percent complete. The sugar beet harvest is at 9 percent and the potato harvest at 15 percent.
The small grains harvest is wrapping up, with durum wheat at 94 percent and spring wheat at 97 percent done.
A third of the state’s winter wheat crop has been seeded.
About half of topsoil and subsoil moisture supplies remain rated adequate to surplus.
Stockwater supplies are rated 60 percent adequate to surplus, and pastures are rated 30 percent in good to excellent condition. Both percentages are down slightly over the week.
