Cabell Midland routs Calvary Baptist, 71-53

ONA — Cabell Midland outscored Calvary Baptist in every quarter Saturday afternoon in a 71-53 victory in boys high school basketball at the Castle.

The Knights led 17-11 after one quarter, despite starting their reserves. Cabell Midland expanded its lead to 34-26 by halftime and pulled away down the stretch.

Chandler Schmidt led the Knights (11-4) with 17 points. Tanner Paugh scored 11 as 10 Cabell Midland players scored.

Robert Clutter led the Patriots (16-7) with 21 points. Isaac Massie scored 16.

NEW BOSTON 70, IRONTON ST. JOE 63: Kyle Sexton scored 22 to pace the Tigers to a victory over the Flyers in Ironton. Grady Jackson scored 16, Marcus Saunders 14 and Jerome McKinley 11 for New Boston (13-5). Tyler Caldwell pulled down 16 rebounds and blocked 11 shots.

HUNTINGTON HIGH 60, HURRICANE 29: The Highlanders jumped to a 17-4 lead and rolled to a triumph over the Redskins in Hurricane, West Virginia. Katie Swann scored 18 points and Madison Slash 12 for Huntington High (9-8), which plays Chapmanville at 1 p.m. Monday in the Little General’s Shootout at West Virginia State University.

LOGAN 59, LINCOLN COUNTY 45: The Wildcats’ (11-7) trio of Peyton Ilderton, Jill Tothe and Britney Welch combined to outscore the visiting Panthers. Ilderton led all scorers with 20 points, Tothe scored 17 and Welch 14. Carly McComas led Lincoln County (9-7) with 17 points.

SISSONVILLE 63, POCA 15: Laila Arthur scored 28 points as the Indians (16-2) routed the Dots (3-14). Sydney Farmer snared 14 rebounds. Jessica Pointer led Poca with six points.

RESCHEDULING: Lincoln County’s boys basketball game at Ripley postponed on Friday has been rescheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 16.
