Oregon State, Hawaii in Oahu Bowl
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) _ Oregon State will play Hawaii in the Oahu Bowl on Christmas Day in Honolulu, bowl officials announced Sunday.
Oregon State (7-4, 4-4 Pac-10) lost to in-state rival Oregon 25-14 Saturday night.
Oregon State won its sixth game against Cal on Nov. 6, breaking the school’s Division I-record streak of 28 straight losing seasons.
The Beavers haven’t been to the postseason since the 1965 Rose Bowl and haven’t won a bowl game since the 1962 Liberty Bowl, a 6-0 win over Villanova.
``I’m just happy to get a chance to play another game after the performance we had Saturday against Oregon,″ coach Dennis Erickson said. ``This will give us a chance to redeem ourselves.″
Hawaii (8-3, 5-2 Western Athletic Conference) set an NCAA record for the biggest single-season turnaround for a team that went winless the previous year. The Rainbow Warriors were 0-12 last season.
