Williamson expected to return for 2nd test

December 8, 2013

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Injured batsman Kane Williamson is expected to return to New Zealand’s lineup for the second test against the West Indies starting Wednesday.

Williamson missed the first test at Dunedin, which ended in a draw on Saturday, because he thought he needed more time to recover from a broken thumb that kept him out of New Zealand’s recent tour to Bangladesh.

Williamson, who made 140 in a districts representative match on Saturday, is expected to replace Aaron Redmond at No. 3 in the Kiwi lineup.

Meanwhile, opener Kraigg Brathwaite is set to rejoin the West Indies team after his arrival in New Zealand was delayed by visa problems.
