May 3, 2019

FLORENCE, S.C. — Florence County seniors gathered around the Leatherman Senior Center Thursday to take part in the local senior games throughout the day.

Co-hosted by Florence County Parks and Recreation, City of Florence Sports Tourism and The Senior Citizens Association, the games took place at the senior center and across the street at Freedom Florence. Wilson High School students assisted with the games.

The day started with the 1500-meter walk and power walk and progressed through ping pong, pickle ball, horseshoes, disc golf, softball throw, basketball free throw, golf putting, golf driving and cornhole.

Abby Horne said the goal of the games was to get seniors out and busy and to keep them active.
