Leta’s Educational Child Care a momentum finalist

September 11, 2018

Leta Bowman saw a need for childcare, and she’s helping to fill that need and then some with Leta’s Educational Child Care in Ludington.

Bowman is expanding her child care center to handle more children, and it has a new location at 900 N. Washington Ave. in Ludington. Even with the expansion, she’s full, and the center has a waiting list.

“I can take 27, and I’m full already,” she said.

Her booming business is one of five being considered in the Momentum Business Plan Competition. Leta’s Education Child Care is competing with Cynthia Lang Pilates, HumaniTea, The Lake House and Sister Bees for $50,000.

Being considered, Bowman said, is an honor.

“It humbles me knowing others believe in my quest enough to feel its worthy of such a monetary gift,” she said. “Should I be chosen, the momentum would definitely make a difference in the growth of Leta’s Educational Child Care in Mason County.”

Bowman said opening her new location has brought something more than what she was able to provide before.

“We have the top security. It’s a high-end security. We got it from Brink’s Security. It’s an intercom system with a video. It has a push-button entry. We thought it was a necessity. It’s a need,” she said.
