Bush To Greet Boys Town Students, Band At Omaha Airport
BOYS TOWN, Neb. (AP) _ Presidential candidate George Bush on Thursday answered a letter from Boys Town student mayor Corey Randall that asked Bush for his views on the needs of young people.
Bush will greet Randall and about 400 Boys Town students Friday at Omaha’s Eppley Airfield when Bush arrives for a rally designed to boost Republican Sen. David Karnes’ U.S. Senate campaign against Democrat Bob Kerrey.
Randall, 17, was still waiting Thursday for a reply from Democrat Michael Dukakis.
The mayor, whose duties are much like those of a student body president, drafted the letters after students at the home for abused and neglected youth were asked to vote on topics they thought the next president should address in his term of office.
