Go register to vote Tuesday
LINCOLN - Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, and Secretary of State John Gale encourages Nebraska citizens to make voter registration a high priority task.
Gale tells News Talk WJAG the November general election is coming up quickly, and updating registrations is important for those who have moved, changed their names, or had their voting rights restored since the last election.
“We always have some 15 to 20% of Nebraskans who don’t get registered, and therefore if they want to vote it’s late by Halloween. They have to get it done now. That’s why we have this Voter Registered Day as a reminder to put a big mark on their calendar at home and at the office to remind them to get registered to vote” Gale said.
He says there are many important races on the ballot as well as the Medicaid Expansion initiative.
Gale says there are multiple ways to register to vote and it’s an easy process.
Citizens in Nebraska have until 6 p.m. on October 26 for in-person registration or October 19 for the postmark deadline for mailed-in and online registrations.
