Treasury Bond Prices Trade Mixed
NEW YORK (AP) _ Treasury bond prices were mixed at midday Tuesday.
The price of the Treasury’s 10-year note was up 5/32 point, or $1.5625 per $1,000 in face value, around midday Tuesday, while its yield fell to 5.71 percent from 5.73 percent late Monday. Prices and yields move in opposite directions.
The 30-year bonds were up 1/8 point and yielded 5.75 percent, unchanged from late Monday.
Yields on three-month Treasury bills fell to 6.33 percent as the discount fell 0.03 percentage point from Monday’s auction to 6.15 percent. Six-month yields fell to 6.33 percent as the discount fell 0.02 percentage point to 6.06 percent from the weekly auction. One-year yields fell to 6.14 percent as the discount fell 0.01 point to 5.84 percent.
Yields are the interest bonds pay by maturity, while the discount is the interest at which they are sold.
