1-month vigil planned for girl, body was found on beach
BOSTON (AP) — A private group is holding a vigil to raise awareness about the case of a young girl whose body was found in a trash bag on a Boston Harbor beach a month ago.
The vigil is planned for 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Deer Island, where her remains were found June 25 by a woman walking a dog.
Authorities have posted a composite image of the girl they call “Baby Doe”online and on highway billboards in hopes of learning her identity. She is believed to have been 4 years old, and had long brown hair and brown eyes. She was about 3 feet 6 inches tall, and weighed about 30 pounds. She is believed to be Caucasian or Hispanic.
Investigators have received hundreds of tips, and ruled out several missing children. Advanced DNA testing is being done.
