Ritter Park gets funky with annual music festival
HUNTINGTON — Groovy tunes filled the Ritter Park Amphitheater on Saturday as the third annual Funktafest brought 10 hours of funk and funk-adjacent music to the stage.
Eighteen musical acts including Stratus, Beggars Clan, The M.F.B. and After Funk presented a range of genres, from funk to jam and hip-hop and reggae.
In addition to funkadelic sounds, the festival offered Funk Yoga sessions, arts, crafts, performance art, and several local food and drink vendors.
Country Boy Brewing Co. crafted an official beer for the festival, Funkle Sam’s Pils, which is a nod to The M.F.B. frontman who has gained fame for his role in the West Virginia teacher strike that got national attention earlier this year.
Funktafest continued into the evening with an after-party at the V Club, which featured DJ Charlie Brown Superstar, Hellnaw, Opposite Box and others.
