Proctorville man gets four-and-a-half years for meth

IRONTON — A Proctorville, Ohio, man was sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court in a drug case.

Larry R. Holland, 65, of the 300 block of Elizabeth Street, pleaded guilty before Judge Charles “Chuck” Cooper to two counts of trafficking in drugs (meth). Three other drug charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement. Holland could be eligible for judicial release after serving two years.

In an unrelated case, Frank T. Hill, 45, of the 200 block of Jefferson Avenue, South Point, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and violating community control sanctions. He was sentenced by Judge Andy Ballard to 36 months in prison.

In other cases:

• Andrew Shepherd, 23, of Wellston, Ohio, was sentenced by Ballard to 18 months in prison for failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

• Lowell F. Ratliff Jr., 36, of the 700 block of Vernon Street, Ironton, was found guilty of violating community control sanctions and was sentenced to 140 days in jail.

• Adam E. Laber, 39, of Ohio 93, Ironton, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin. He was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to complete up to a six-month program at the STAR Justice Center in Franklin Furnace, Ohio.

• Christy M. Potter, 47, of the 2700 block of South 7th Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to failure to appear and possession of drugs (meth). She was placed on community control sanctions for four years, ordered to complete the program at STAR and do 200 hours of community service.

• Jordan L. Marcum, 25, of the 200 block of Locust Street, Coal Grove, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine. He was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to complete the program at STAR.

• Amy D. Pennington, 35, of the 2400 block of South 5th Street, Ironton, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin. She was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to complete the program at STAR.

• Ronald E. Pemberton Jr., 35, of Township Road 13W, Ironton, pleaded guilty to attempt to commit burglary. Final sentencing was set for Sept. 19.

• Justin M. Wells, 30, of Township Road 1021, South Point, rejected a plea offer of three years in prison. He faces a maximum sentence of seven-and-a-half years in prison on charges of tampering with evidence, trafficking in drugs (fentanyl) and possession of drugs (fentanyl). The case is set for trial Sept. 6.

• Richard L. Robinson, no age listed, of the 100 block of Washington Court, South Point, pleaded guilty to aggravated possession of drugs (meth). He was placed on community control sanctions for four years and ordered to do 200 hours of community service.

• Andrea Christian, 26, of Lexington, Kentucky, failed a treatment in lieu of conviction program and was ordered to complete the program at STAR and do 200 hours of community service.

• Mason C. Thacker, 31, of Ohio 93, Ironton, pleaded innocent to possession of drugs (meth). He was placed on a $25,000 recognizance bond and ordered to wear an ankle monitor while the case is pending.
