NEW YORK (AP) _ Steve O’Hare threw an 7-yard touchdown pass to Gerry McDermott with 18 seconds remaining in the third quarter Saturday as Fordham defeated Towson State 12-7, ending a six-game losing streak.

McDermott’s catch, his fifth TD reception of the season, closed out a 92-yard, nine-play drive that wiped out a 7-6 deficit in the Patriot League game. Fordham (3-6, 3-2) failed on the two-point conversion.

Jayson Corle, who carried 39 times for 106 yards for Towson State (2-6, 0-4), scored the Tigers’ touchdown on a 20-yard run with a half-minute left in the first quarter.

Fordham closed to 7-6 when Lance Peck ran into the end zone after teammate Dave Scoblick blocked Bob Gossard’s punt. The Rams were penalized 15 yards for excessive celebration on the play and then Dave Lofrese’s conversion kick went wide to the right.
