OMAHA, Neb. (AP) _ A woman was killed with her 6-month-old daughter in a pre-dawn hit-and-run accident, and police said she may have been trying to flag down help after her car went down an embankment.

Renee Ellen Novy, 29, and Jamesin Keely Novy were found by motorists Monday morning near Interstate 680, police said.

Novy’s car veered off the interstate and went down the embankment sometime between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., police said. Investigators said she may have been trying to get help. The temperature ranged from 17 to 24 degrees at the time.

Several callers to a police information line mentioned seeing a tan motor home with a blue stripe pulling a red Nissan car with tow lights, Sgt. Dan Cisar said. Investigators are trying to locate the driver.
