MASS SHOOTING THREAT

A 27-year-old Colorado man who authorities say posted a social media message threatening to kill women because he couldn’t get a girlfriend would avoid any additional jail time if a judge on Thursday accepts the terms of a sentence the suspect and prosecutors agreed to as a part of plea deal. ENDANGERED WOLVES-ILLEGAL KILLINGS

RALEIGH, N.C. _ Illegal killings and longstanding political resistance have undercut the return of two species of endangered wolves to the wild, frustrating government efforts that already cost more than $80 million but have failed to meet recovery targets. The number of red wolves roaming the forests of North Carolina has plunged to fewer than three dozen in recent years — the most precarious position of any U.S. wolf species. CLIMBER DEATH _ Authorities have identified the Minnesota man who died while rock climbing in Colorado. Twenty-two-year-old Mitchel Halberg of Winona died of a head injury after falling while climbing in Poudre Canyon near Fort Collins, Colorado on Saturday. The death was ruled an accident.

BP SPILLS-COLORADO _ BP America Production Co. has been fined $68,000 for three spills of an oil and gas byproduct in southwestern Colorado. The Durango Herald reported Wednesday that BP has agreed to spend about $12.5 million by 2022 to repair or replace 17 miles (27 kilometers) of pipelines in La Plata County.
