SEOUL, South Korea (AP) _ Japan took a 2-0 lead over South Korea in Fed Cup tennis regional qualifying matches Saturday, propelled by a straight-set win by world No. 17 Ai Sugiyama.

In the day's first singles match, Japan's Miho Saeki used strong forehand strokes to win six straight games in the last set to upset Kim Eun-ha of South Korea 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

Kim made several unforced errors in the last set.

In the second match, Sugiyama posted an easy 6-1, 6-1 victory over South Korea's Choi Ju-yeon.
