Sugarloaf Twp. Sheetz Seeks Liquor License

February 9, 2019

Sheetz in Sugarloaf Twp. could be the next convenience store in the region to sell beer. A hearing on a proposed liquor license transfer from the city of Pittston to Sheetz on Route 93 will be held Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Sugarloaf Twp. municipal building. The township supervisors will take comments and render a decision at that time. If approved, the store would have a walk-in beer cave toward the back of the store that would offer customers over the age of 21 a variety of beers, including packed and individual beer, according to Jennifer Donahoe, a spokeswoman for the convenience store chain. A 367-square-foot addition would be built on the front of the store to provide seating required to offer the beer sales, she said. Some outdoor seating and a set of double doors will be removed to make way for the addition, which will provide 30 seats, including wheelchair-accessible seating, according to plans on file with Sugarloaf Twp. An existing cooler will be modified and a new partition built in the 4,997-square-foot store as part of the changes. — KELLY MONITZ
