Let There Be Lights: London Bridge aglow for the holidays
The English Village lit up Friday evening during Lake Havasu City’s 23rd Annual Festival of Lights. Thousands were in attendance as the event began with a swim race across Bridgewater Channel, with 77 men, women and children competing from throughout the U.S.
The winner was awarded $250 and the honor of flipping a switch beneath the London Bridge to set the English Village aglow. Once the celebration began, Havasu residents and visitors were treated to spectacle, ice skating, frozen treats and hot cocoa, all available from local vendors. Santa Claus was also in attendance at the event, and will visit the English Village every Friday and Saturday until Christmas.
Havasu’s Festival of Lights will continue every evening until Jan. 5. The lights will turn off at 10 p.m. each night throughout the festival.
