PLEASANT HILL — The Sutherlin Bulldogs picked up their first volleyball win of the season Wednesday, defeating Pleasant Hill in a nonleague match.

Set scores were 25-17, 25-12, 25-16.

A night after losing to Phoenix at home in three sets, the Bulldogs (1-3) were much sharper.

Freshman Sierra Neilsen had 13 assists, five kills and three aces for Sutherlin. Carmen Ganger added six kills and Rylee Parsons made nine digs. Coach Kathy Rice said sophomore outside hitter Deja Yarbrough had a solid match.

“A good night all-around for us,” said Rice.

The Bulldogs travel to Lincoln City Friday for a nonleague contest against Taft.
