Ventriloquist Lynn Trefzger brings comical characters to Shady Side Academy show
Ventriloquist and comedienne Lynn Trefzger will bring her trunk full of comical characters for a performance at Shady Side Academy on Nov. 17.
As part of the Hillman Performing Arts Series, the show will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Senior School campus, 423 Fox Chapel Road, Fox Chapel. Tickets cost $24-30 and can be purchased online at thehillman.org or by phone at 412-968-3040.
Trefzger credits her profession to a childhood hobby that got out of hand. For three decades, Trefzger has given life to characters like a grumpy old man and a lovable camel. Performing for family audiences worldwide, Trefzger’s vocal illusions may include audience participation.
After getting her start on TV’s Star Search, she has performed on TNN, VH-1, Lifetime and Comedy Central. She is featured in the documentary “I’m No Dummy,” about the art of ventriloquism.
Founded in 2004, the Hillman Center for Performing Arts strives to make cultural performances accessible to all. Remaining shows this season include pianist Deanna Witkowski on Dec. 8, Celtic music trio Poor Man’s Gambit on March 9, magician The Amazing Max on March 16 and jugglers The Flying Karamazov Brothers on April 13.
