United Way of Summit County seeks year-end donations to support 2-1-1 service

AKRON, Ohio – The United Way of Summit County is seeking donations to support its 2-1-1 information and referral service.

A national United Way program, 2-1-1 connects people in need of assistance with information and resources. The service became a United Way of Summit County program earlier this year following the organization’s merger with Info Line.

Summit County residents can dial 2-1-1 to speak with a trained representative  about more than 10,300 county services, including supplemental food and nutrition programs, substance abuse treatment, disaster services and more.

The service, which is free and confidential, also connects callers with United Way services such as free tax preparation through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program and free financial coaching through the Akron Financial Empowerment Center.

Program donations are tax deductible.
