Northeast Hawks men’s soccer falls to Central of Columbus
The Northeast Hawks men’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 home decision to Central Community College of Columbus last night.
The Hawks are now 1-2 on the season.
Score at half:
Arthur Lopez PK
Massimiliano Simonazzi 5
Thirty minutes into the first half Victor Galterio was taken out in the penalty box which gave us a penalty kick. Arthur took the penalty kick and put us up 1-0. About 10 minutes later, right before half, Central was able to take advantage of a foul and scored off of a set piece. That took us into the half 1-1.
78 minutes into the game, Central once again took advantage of a foul and scored their second goal off of a set piece that was deflected up into the air and slowly bounced into the goal. The game ended 2-1
I felt we played a great game. In the first half we struggled a little controlling the ball like we like too. Central did a good job of closing down on us quickly. We had a couple chances in the first half but nothing too serious.
In the second half I felt the flow of the game was ours. 10 if our 12 shots were taken in the second half. We had some great opportunities to score but were always just a little short on getting to the ball. We thought we had the equalizer late in the second half but we were offsides so the goal was negated. Central did a good job of taking advantage of their set pieces to get them the win. This was an exciting game as it always is.
