4 hurt in explosion at chemical facility near Los Angeles
CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say four people were injured when an explosion ignited a fire at an oil and chemical storage terminal near Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department says the blast happened as jet fuel was being loaded into a tanker truck early Monday at Kinder Morgan’s facility in Carson.
The Los Angeles Times reports one person was treated for minor burns. Three others were taken to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Officials say it took about 80 firefighters less than an hour to knock down the fire. Video from the scene showed fire engines spraying the facility with white foam.
Kinder Morgan’s terminal handles crude oil, finished petroleum products, ethanol and refinery feedstocks, according to its website.
