Urawa keeps lead in J-League after 4-4 draw with Sendai
SENDAI, Japan (AP) — Shinzo Koroki scored late in the second half Sunday as Urawa Reds earned a 4-4 draw with Vegalta Sendai to maintain its lead in the J-League standings.
Ryang Yong-gi gave the hosts a 4-3 lead in the 79th but Koroki levelled the score with his second goal of the game one minute later as Urawa stayed top with 24 points, one ahead of FC Tokyo which lost 1-0 to Kashima Antlers.
Treble winners Gamba Osaka improved to 22 points after a 1-0 win over two-time champion Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Hiroshima also has 22 points but trails Gamba on goal difference.
In other games, Diego scored twice as Montedio Yamagata beat Kashiwa Reysol 3-0 and Yoshito Okubo scored his eighth goal of the season in Kawasaki Frontale’s 1-0 win over Nagoya Grampus.
Yuta Mikado scored as Yokohama F Marinos beat Albirex Niigata 1-0 while Shonan Bellmare beat last place Ventforet Kofu by the same score, thanks to Shuhei Otsuki’s second-half strike.
Daichi Kamada’s last-minute equalizer gave Sagan Tosu a 1-1 draw with Matsumoto Yamaga, and Genki Omae sealed Shimizu S-Pulse’s 2-1 win over Vissel Kobe for the team’s first victory in 10 games.
