UNLV 72, No. 18 Colorado St. 58

LAS VEGAS (AP) _ Constance Jinks scored a career-high 36 points, and Linda Frohlich led a key second-half run as UNLV beat No. 18 Colorado State 72-58 Friday in the Mountain West Conference tournament semifinals.

The fourth-seeded Rebels (23-6) advanced to Saturday’s championship against Brigham Young, a 71-58 winner over New Mexico in the other semifinal.

Colorado State (24-6) got 20 points and eight rebounds from Angie Gorton.

Frohlich scored five of her 18 points in an 11-2 run midway through the second half that left the Rebels in front 54-43 with 6:15 remaining. Frohlich also had 17 rebounds.

Jinks was 11-for-19 from the field and sank 13 of 14 free throws.

UNLV sealed the win with 12-for-12 free-throw shooting in the final 1:37. The Rebels were 19-for-20 overall from the line.

Colorado State controlled the tempo in the first half and used a 10-2 run in the final 2:14 to build a 32-28 lead at the break. Joy Jenkins hit two 3-pointers to key the spurt. She finished with 15 points for the Rams, the top seed in the tourney.
