Republican party primary, Constitution party convention coming up for N.A. City Council
On Tuesday, seven will become six in the race for the three seats up for election in the North Augusta City Council.
The Republican primary, where voters will have the chance to vote for three of the four candidates running as members of the Republican party, will be held Feb. 12. The four candidates are Bob Brooks (incumbent), Michael Pace, Eric Presnell and Kevin Toole.
After the primary, three of the four will go on to be on the ballot for the April 30 general election. Joining them will be three Constitution Party members: Stetson Corbitt, Elizabeth Jones and Dave Leverett.
The constitution party was recently re-organized and will formally nominate the three candidates today.
The three seats are currently held by Brooks, Jimmy Adams and Ken McDowell. Brooks is the only council member running for re-election. All North Augusta City Council members are at-large and represent the entire city.
Some voting precincts will not be open during the primary, and those voters will have to go to alternate polling locations. The change is only for the Feb. 12 primary
