Aiken man charged with breaking into shed on South Street

September 6, 2018

An Aiken man was charged Wednesday morning in connection to a burglary on South Street in Aiken last month.

Keith Allan Owen Jr., 31, of the 100 block of Aspen Court, is charged with third-degree burglary and malicious injury to personal property, according to jail records.

On Aug. 9, Aiken County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to South Street at 1:18 p.m. and met with a 38-year-old man who claimed the suspect had broken into his shed, and stole multiple items, according to the report.

The victim said he arrived to his shed around 12:30 p.m. and found the metal door had been pried open, both windows had been broken out and several items were missing, the report states.

The victim said he believed Owen was the suspect because of some text messages Owen sent to him, police reported.

One of the text messages sent from Owen to the victim states, “Come to my house if you want to, I promise I’ll shoot your (expletive) as soon as I see you,” the report states.

The victim told investigators he had no idea why the suspect was acting this way toward him or why he would want to break into his shed, police reported.

Following an investigation, Owen was arrested Wednesday morning and taken to the Aiken County detention center.
