FRESNO, Calif. (AP) _ Senior forward Scott Barnes scored 19 points and senior guard Mitch Arnold added 16 as Fresno State scored a 66-55 victory against New Mexico in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament Tuesday night.

Barnes scored six of his 14 first-half points in the final two minutes as the Bulldogs outscored the Lobos 10-2 to take a 34-23 halftime lead.

New Mexico cut the margin to four points early in the second half, but the Bulldogs responded with six unanswered points to regain control at 42-32. Fresno led by as many as 14 points during the second half.

The game was halted by a bench clearing brawl late in the second half which resulted in the ejections of New Mexico's Johnny Brown and Fresno's Brian Salone. Brown, who came into the game averaging 19 points, scored 12 points. Kelvin Scarborough also had 12 for the Lobos, who finished the season at 19-13.

Jos Kuipers added 14 points for the Bulldogs, who improved their record to 23-8.
