Man on the Street: What is your top issue?

November 8, 2018

What is your top issue or issues this election?

“It’s the economy. I think it needs to keep going in the direction it’s going.”

Brett Smith, 58, Forest Lake.

“I’m a college student. The biggest thing for me would be student aid and the finances that I have. Housing in Rochester is also very expensive. So having to go to school while finding a good place to live at a good price, that’s a big problem.”

Chidiogo Orakwue, 18, Rochester.

“I’m a Trump voter. It’s hard to say what’s the most important. A good strong border is right up there, as is the rule of law. And low taxes.”

Scott Clough, 53, Rochester.

“Clearly for the country as a whole, the attitude of the Congress (is an important election issue). Secondly, Medicare. Thirdly, the disparity between the haves and have nots and a more equitable salary system for the whole country.”

John Joyce, 88, Rochester.

“Climate change, climate change, climate change. There’s a list of issues longer than my arm that are important to each and everyone of us: Health care, campaign finance reform, international affairs. What do any of them mean if we don’t have an environment to pass on to our kids.”

Mark Frederickson, 65, Rochester.
