Roger Lee Hicks, 86, of Kingsport, Tenn., passed away March 12, 2019, in Johnson City, Tenn.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at East Lawn Memorial Park (Mausoleum No. 2), with the Rev. Jack Wiekel officiating.
He was born Jan. 3, 1933, in Kansas, the son of Lee Roy Hicks and OraLee (Rawley) VanDerKarr.
Roger retired from working at Armstrong Industries.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Roger married Lorain on Aug. 3, 1956, in Kankakee. They were married for 62 years. She preceded him in death.
Surviving are a son, David Hicks and wife Victoria; daughter, Brenda Heidt and husband Phil Heidt; brother, Raymond Hicks and wife Jane; sister, Pat Prairie and husband Dale; grandsons, Ryan and Jacob Hicks, of Elgin; and granddaughters, JoLynne, Katie and Marcie Heidt, of Kingsport, Tenn.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, Lee Roy Hicks; mother, OraLee VanDerKarr and stepfather Melvin; and brothers, Ron and Richard Hicks.
